Kava-session i skummel lille kava-bar i hovedstaden Nuku’alofa.

Air Pacifics ATR-fly var til reparation, så vi ”fik lov” til at flyve med dette klassiske Convair 580 i stedet. Flyet blev produceret indtil 1954 (!) og har iflg. min pilotven Rune ikke fløjet passagerer i Europa siden 60erne eller 70erne.

Flyet var leaset hos Air Chatham (Tonga). Min pilotven Rune sagde at han kun selv ville sende sin familie af sted med det hvis det var godt vejr og piloterne var dygtige.

Dette er ikke business-class..men i 1950 lavede man god plads til passagererne. Det larmede helt vildt, så ørepropper var en god ting. Det dryppede med koldt (kondensvand) fra loftet når vi var i fuld flyvehøjde..

Et foretagende der fortjener alt den støtte de kan få…

”Fiskende grise” (!!??) I Tonga går grisene ud når det er lavvande og fanger fisk med snuden i mudderet og æder dem..

På vej hjem fra Tonga til Fiji. Heldigvis med en Boeing 737.

Takket være Air Pacifics utallige aflysninger nåede vi kun to dage/en nat (30 timer) på Tonga.

Men med vores ældgamle ”Toyota Caldina” (endnu ældre end min derhjemme) nåede vi hovedøen Tongatapu rundt i fin stil.
